Look at this guy!

The kids and I went swimming at my Mom's house yesterday. Both kids mainly wanted to play on the steps. I had to force Austin to swim around. I kept telling him that he needs to spend more time getting comfortable with swimming so he can have fun playing in the water. He didn't say anything.

Today at the Fu's 4th of July party, it took Austin a little while to warm up. He watched the other kids in the pool while he ate, but by the time he was done, he was ready to get in the water. He played on his own using a pool noodle as a floaty in the beginning then he slowly joined the girls at the deep end. He really craves peer interaction and he eventually started swimming around like the other kids without any floating assistance and jumping in to the pool in the deep end! I am so proud of him for being brave and trying something that previously scared him. He was swimming and treading water so easily! I think he probably surprised himself with his newfound abilities too.

He spent the rest of the day in the water, it was at least 3-4 hours! But, he got out of the pool to use the bathroom so frequently that I am confident that he didn't pee in the pool at all. :)

 

Once Jackson woke up from his nap in the car he took a little while to get comfortable also. After eating a little and watching a little tv with Ayumi, he got in the pool and had lots of fun with the water guns.
