Jet Propulsion Laboratory Open House

It was a super clear day for our trek to JPL.
It was a super long wait to get from the freeway to the parking lot at JPL, about one mile. We got to the exit just before 9:00am (the time the open house started) and parked the car at almost 10:00am.
Hallelujah! We finally made it to the JPL entrance and found a parking space!
This vehicle on display is a Mars Rover test robot, it is used to test various wheels for the rover.

It was hot and super crowded! Sophia (Austin's friend Braden's Mom) works there and mentioned that last year there were over 20,000 people over the course of the weekend.

JPL guy showing the kids the size of Jupiter compared to the size of earth as we waited to enter the Satellite Assembly Facility Building.

Overlooking the Satellite Assembly Facility. We waited almost an hour to see this. It was cool to see the facility and one of the solar panels for the JUNO satellite (which has a total of three of these solar panels), but that was a long wait. Good thing we had lunch to eat while we were waiting.
